St. Michael’s Ridge Festival

    Sunday August 12, 2018

The planning for this year’s festival is well underway and we would like to remind our parish community of some of the upcoming items prior to the day of the festival which is 7 short weeks away.

**Weekend of July 1st we will start collecting the donations for chicken. There is a predesignated envelope in your box of collection envelopes for this. If you do not have collection envelopes just put it an envelope marking the outside with festival chicken donation. These donations are greatly appreciated as they help to offset the cost of the wonderful meal we serve the day of the festival.

**Once again, we will have the Chinese Raffle. Any parishioner that would like to put together a donation basket for this we are asking that you contact Joan McBride (419-428-4773) or any of the other festival committee members by August 5th so we can plan to have enough space for each of the donations. The last 2 years we have incorporated this raffle into the festival and it has proven to be a great way to raise additional funds for the church. **The festival committee cannot wait to see all the creative basket ideas.

Festival Committee is always looking for new volunteers. Anyone interested in helping and or joining the committee please join us at our next meeting on Wednesday June 27 after the 7 pm Mass.

**Don’t forget to mark your calendars for August 12 as it takes the entire parish community for a successful Festival.

**Thanks in advance from the Festival Committee

Note:

A Summer Retreat weekend for Women and Men will be held July 6-8, 2018.  The theme of the retreat will be “Mysticism – The Heartbeat of God.”  We all have mystical experiences, but we’re not all mystics.  How can we learn how to live a mystically driven life?  We will explore this topic, gleaning some insights from Fr. Ron Rolheiser, OMI and from the “mystical” gospel of John.

The Retreat will be led by Father Marty Nassr, a senior status priest of the Diocese.  This will be a repeat of the retreat that was given in February (several had requested that it be held in the summer).  The retreat starts early Friday evening July 6 and ends with a closing late morning Mass on Sunday, July 8.  For more information about this retreat please see Our Lady of Consolation Retreat House web site at www.olcshrine.com and click on “July 6-8 Men’s & Women’s Retreat“ or call for a brochure.  The cost for the weekend will be $150.00 for overnight guests and $95.00 for commuters, which includes 4 hot meals and your program materials.  Call Brother Randy for info at 419-396-7970 or email at retreats@olcshrine.com
