St. Michael’s Parish Council Minutes

 

January 12, 2012

 

Present were:  Father Bob, Gerald Kappen, Chris Ricica, Mary Ann Benecke, Barb Weber, Chris Newton, Kevin Hoschak, Jerry Wagner, Ellis Ivey

 

The meeting opened with a prayer.

 

Finance:  Financials for the months of November and December were reviewed with a combined income of $36,530.21 and expenses of $37,058.52 for a net loss of $528.31.  Fuel costs for the school accounted for a large amount of the expenses.

 

Maintenance: (Jerry Wagner and Gerald Kappen)   The baseboards in the church basement are still scheduled to be repaired from prior water damage.  Quotes are still being pursued for repair to the slate shingles on the bell tower.  A quote of $300 was received to repair a portion of damaged plaster in the school.  Council approved the repair.  A deposit has been made for a new sound system in the church.  It will be installed at the end of January.  Father reported that the south wall of the rectory garage needs sealed due to water coming through during rains.

 

Religious Formation: (Chris Ricica)   No report.

 

Liturgy & Worship: (Chris Newton)   Eucharistic Ministers for shut-ins are needed.  Volunteers are encouraged to contact Chris Newton.  Many other volunteer activities need help.  Council will prepare a flyer to go in the bulletin, listing ways for parish members to get involved and who to contact for more information.

 

Community Service:  (Barb Weber, Adam Homier, Ellis Ivey)   Some parish volunteers will prepare and serve a meal at the PATH Center on January 30th.  Council decided to provide a social activity for adults of the parish.  An adult parish gathering with a catered meal will be served on February 19th in the church basement.  Details and reservation forms will be inserted in the bulletin.

 

Old Business:  A committee will be sought to research the costs of maintaining the school and estimates for building a new school.  Parish members will be encouraged to contact Chris Newton if they would like to participate on the committee.  Council discussed the purchase of a defibrillator.  The second collection on February 12th will be to help fund this purchase. 

 

New Business:  Council bylaws were reviewed and approved.

The meeting opened with a prayer.

 

Finance: Financials for the month of October were reviewed with income of $15,909.37 and expenses of $13,538.69 for a net gain of $2,370.68.  Council also reviewed the status of the trust funds.

 

Maintenance: (Jerry Wagner and Gerald Kappen) Thank you Ron Clinger for making adjustments on the front hydrant.  Quotes are being pursued for repair of the slate shingles on the bell tower.  Some plaster inside the entry way to the school is in need of repair.  Quotes are being received for an upgrade to the church sound system.  Jerry Wiemken will be asked to check the furnaces annually.

 

Religious Formation: (Chris Ricica)   None.

 

Liturgy & Worship: (Chris Newton)   Christmas Masses are scheduled for December 24th at 4:00pm and 11:00pm.  Several adult ushers are needed for each Mass.  Additional servers (including adults) are needed for Saturday evening Masses.  A notice for Christmas ushers and weekly Saturday evening servers will be posted in the bulletin.  Volunteers are asked to contact Tammy Rettig.  Eucharistic Ministers for shut in are requested.  Volunteers should see Chris Newton.  The Catholic Food Pantry has requested specific items.  A list of those items is posted in the church entrance for those wishing to donate.

 

Community Service:  (Barb Weber, Adam Homier, Ellis Ivey)   The Youth Group will fill stockings for PATH Center children on December 4th.  The Youth Group will also provide a parish breakfast on December 18th while the grade school Sunday School children practice for the Christmas program.  After breakfast, volunteers will be invited to decorate the church for Christmas.

 

Old Business:  Council bylaws were written.  Defibrillators were discussed for the church.  Two quotes have been received.  Chris Ricica is pursuing potential assistance in funding the purchase of one.

 

New Business:  None

October 19, 2011

The meeting was opened with a prayer.

 

Finance:  Financials for the month of September were discussed.  Income totaled $10,523.85 and expenses totaled $9,863.14 for a net gain of $660.71.  Council approved the treasurer to pursue a request for trust fund monies for various repair to church buildings, as signed by Father Bob.

 

Maintenance: (Jerry Wagner and Gerald Kappen) A storm window was replaced in the convent.  Some of the convent windows will need sill replacement in the near future.  The flower bed hydrant will be adjusted to allow bleed off to prevent freezing.  The Cemetery Committee is pursuing quotes for repairs to the cemetery drive.  A quote is being obtained for security cameras for some of the church buildings.  Contractors are being contacted for repairs to the slate roof on the bell tower.

 

Religious Formation: (Chris Ricica) None.

 

Liturgy & Worship: (Chris Newton) None.

 

Community Service: (Barb Weber, Adam Homier, Ellis Ivey) The Youth Group participate in the CROP walk.  They also held a parish breakfast which was well attended.  Breakfast funds went to support the CROP walk.

 

Old Business:  Council members are reviewing the bylaws and will discuss them at the November meeting.

 

New Business:  Council is pursuing the purchase of a defibrillator.  Several council members are getting quotes and checking into funding assistance for the purchase.  Consideration is also being given to a future 2nd collection (February) to assist with the purchase of the defibrillator.  The November 2nd collection will be for the Human Development fund.  One of the kitchen fryers was reported as not working.

Finance:  Financials for the months of July and August were reviewed with the two month income of $47,745.70 and expenses of $37,765.12 for net income of $9,980.58

 

Maintenance: (Jerry Wagner, Gerald Kappen) The mop board in the basement is scheduled to be replaced due to previous water damage.  The slate shingles on the bell tower are being reviewed for repair.  The front flower bed hydrant is being reviewed to ensure EPA compliance.  The broken window at the Sunday school was replaced.

 

Religious Formation: (Chris Ricica) Religious education classes are off to a good start.  RCIA begins on September 22, 2011.

 

Liturgy & Worship: (Chris Newton) A Children’s Liturgy will be held on October 16th, with Mass followed by a Youth Group breakfast.  Youth Group members invite all to join them on the CROP walk in Defiance on October 2nd at 1pm.  We will begin using the revised Roman Missal with its new prayers and texts beginning November 27th.  See the bulletin for dates and times of informational/faith sharing sessions regarding the changes.

 

Community Service: (Barb Weber, Ellis Ivey, Adam Homier) Lunch was served to Habitat for Humanity volunteers by parish members in August.

 

Old Business:  Gutter guards have been partially installed at the rectory.  Security system quotes are being obtained for the grounds.  Council members are reviewing ideas for council bylaws.

 

New Business:  Annual Catholic Appeal update – our parish has reached 98% of our goal pledged to date ($7,776).

July 20, 2011

The meeting opened with a summer prayer.

 

Finance:  Financials for the month of June were discussed with income of $14,780.18 and expenses of $13,278.15 for a net gain of $1,502.03.  The financials for the fiscal year (June 2010 – June 2011) were also discussed.  The fiscal year ended with a net gain of $15,948.00.

 

Maintenance: (Jerry Wagner and Ron Clinger):  The status of the cemetery drive was reviewed with the Cemetery Committee.  They will assess the drive to determine what improvements can be made. 

Some slate pieces were noted to have fallen off the church tower during a recent wind storm.  Possible repairs may be needed. 

With the reduction of water seeping into the church basement, the mopboard under the registers will be replaced.

 

Religious Formation: (Chris Ricica):  No report

 

Liturgy & Worship: (Chris Newton):  Additional Eucharistic Ministers for shut-ins are needed.  Interested parish members should see Chris Newton.

Father noted that new text for portions of Mass will begin being used on September 4, 2011.  Pew cards will be available with the new text.

 

Community Service: (Barb Weber, Ellis Ivey, Adam Homier):  Our parish will prepare and serve food at the Path Center on August 8th.

 

Old Business:  None

 

New Business:  Surveillance and/or alarm systems will be researched for the church and rectory due to recent concerns at the school and convent.

62% of our Annual Catholic Appeal goal has been met.

The parish festival will take place on August 14th.  The bingo license has arrived.

 

Pastor’s Remarks:  An EPA water survey was completed in June, 2011.  Some alterations will need to be made to the water systems.  Thank you Ron Clinger for helping with the report and EPA requirements.

Finance:  The financials for the month of May were reviewed with income of $12,086.83 and expenses of $13,743.58 for a loss of $1,656.75.  Trust funds were also discussed by council with a decision to pay for recent repairs to the church and properties out of a trust fund.

 

Maintenance: (Jerry Wagner and Ron Clinger) The rectory and barn gutters will be repaired and/or replaced.  The new gutter guards on the church appear to be working well.  Water has not seeped into the church basement in the usual places.

 

Religious Formation: (Ed Singer)  The Youth Group had a fun trip to Cedar Pointe.

 

Liturgy & Worship: (Barb Krugh)  The 55+ Club meeting for June has been cancelled.  Commissioning of Eucharistic Ministers will be on June 25/26.

 

Community Service: (Barb Weber and Jill Olashuk)  Our Church is on the calendar to serve dinner at the Path Center on August 8th.  Parish families may volunteer to prepare and serve food on that evening.

 

Building Community: (Adam Homier)  No report.

In other new business, council decided to reduce the number of second monthly collections for special causes.  Second collections will not be taken in July, August, and December.

There was discussion regarding the cemetery drive.  The Cemetery Committee will be approached regarding improvements that may be needed.

 

Pastor’s Remarks:  Thank you to those that spent time maintaining the lawn and flower beds.  Many compliments have been received.  Father also thanked the parish for their generosity in meeting 60% of our Annual Catholic Appeal goal thus far.

The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.

 

Finance:  The financials for the month of April were reviewed with income of $16,511.56 and expenses of $11,493.29 for a net gain of $5,018.27. 

 

Maintenance: (Jerry Wagner and Ron Clinger)   The parish clean up/repair day was held on May 7th.  Projects completed included:  Installation of door seals in the church basement, installation of handicapped accessible toilets in the church restrooms, painting of classroom chalkboards, removal of a school air conditioner, installation of a frost free hydrant in front of church, school window sealing, replacement of the well cap, and cleaning of the church and school flower beds.  Many thanks to those that volunteered their time and labor.

 

Religious Formation: (Ed Singer)   A Graduation Mass will be held on June 5th.

 

Liturgy & Worship: (Barb Krugh)   June 5th is Ascension Sunday.  June 12th is Pentecost. The 55+ Club will meet on June 28th at 11:00.

 

Community Service: (Barb Weber and Jill Olashuk)   None

 

Building Community: (Adam Homier)  None

The meeting was called to order and all joined in the opening prayer.

 

The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.

 

Finance:  The financials for the month of March were reviewed with income of $13,695.40 and expenses of $21,946.56 for a net loss of $8,251.16. 

 

Maintenance: (Jerry Wagner and Ron Clinger)   An estimate was obtained for barn and rectory gutter replacement and repair.  Council approved the repairs.  Both sump pumps were inspected and both were operational.  Council also approved the purchase of handicapped accessible toilets for both church restrooms.  May 7th was confirmed as the date for a parish clean up day.  Work will begin at 9am (rain or shine) and end at 1pm with a potluck meal.  All parish members are asked to come and help with various maintenance and cleaning projects.  Ron Clinger will prepare a list of projects and supplies needed.  Parishioners are asked to bring tools if possible.  The parish will supply the meat, drinks, and table service for the potluck.  All are welcome to bring a dish to share.

 

Religious Formation: (Ed Singer)   The last CCD class will be held on April 17th.  May 1st is the date for First Communion.  The Youth Group will hold a parish breakfast on May 15th.

 

Liturgy & Worship: (Barb Krugh)  The April 26th 55+ Club meeting has been cancelled.  They will meet again on May 24th.  St. Augustine in Napoleon will celebrate “Divine Mercy Sunday” on May 1 at 3pm.  All are welcome.

 

Community Service: (Barb Weber and Jill Olashuk)   The Youth Group cleaned up the roadsides on April 10th.

 

Building Community: (Adam Homier)   Father Bob celebrated 40 years of priesthood on April 3rd.  The church will host an anniversary celebration with him on Sunday, April 17th.  There will be a 5pm potluck meal in the basement.  All are welcome.  The church will supply the meat, drinks, and table service.  Parish members are welcome to bring a side dish or dessert to share.  The Altar and Rosary Society and Parish Council will organize the potluck.  The Holy Thursday service will be followed with bread and wine sharing in the basement.  All are welcome.  Bring your favorite bread or wine to share.

 

Old Business:  The 2nd collection for May is planned to support DASH (Defiance Area Society of the Handicapped).

 

New Business:  Parish Council and Cemetery Committee nominations are being sought.  Elections will tentatively be held in May.

Joe Stykemain called the meeting to order and all joined in the opening prayer.

 

The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.

 

Finance:  The financials for the month of February were reviewed with income of $9,299.55 and expenses of $16,486.91 for a net loss of $7,187.36.  *The last collection of February did not get posted until March, accounting for part of the lower income figure.

 

Maintenance: (Jerry Wagner and Ron Clinger)  Gutter guards have been installed on the church.  Sump pumps will be checked in March to ensure that they are operational.  The Council sent thank you notes and gift cards to the two Northwest State Community College students who prepared the school energy report.  It was noted that snow was able to get into the northeast basement entry through the metal door this winter, causing wet carpeting.

 

Religious Formation: (Ed Singer)  The Youth Group breakfast and PRE bowling parties on February 27th were both well attended.  On March 13th the Mission team will meet with students in grades 1-6 to do a presentation with them.  On March 20th there will be a Children’s liturgy and PRE bake sale, as well as a 7/8 grade “The Jesus Game” retreat.  A retreat for Confirmation students will also be held on March 20th.  There will be no CCD classes on March 27th or April 3rd.  Confirmation will be celebrated on April 3rd.  PRE Easter eggs will be made and decorated on April 5 & 6, then sold the following weekend.

 

Liturgy & Worship: (Barb Krugh)  The 55+ Club will have a retreat on March 22nd.

 

Community Service: (Barb Weber and Jill Olashuk)   No report

New Business:  A Catholic Youth conference will be held in Indianapolis in November, 2011.  Council agreed to help fund the cost for the conference for youth from our parish to attend.  The 2nd collection for April is planned to support the Greg Ulaszewski benefit and the 2nd collection for May is planned to support DASH (Defiance Area Society of the Handicapped).  Parish Council nominations will be taken on March 26th and 27th.

 

Pastor’s Remarks:  The Parish Mission is scheduled for March 13th – 16th.  All are encouraged to attend.

Joe Stykemain called the meeting to order and all joined in the opening prayer.

 

The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.

 

Finance:  The financials for the month of January were reviewed with income of $14,973.81 and expenses of $19,042.93 for a net loss of $4,069.12.

 

Maintenance: (Jerry Wagner and Ron Clinger)   Gutter guard installation is to begin once the snow is cleared and the ground is not too soft for a lift.  The previous ground tile installer indicated that two sump pumps were placed on the church grounds many years ago and recommended that they be checked to ensure that they are operational.  The NWSCC student report is complete on the energy efficiency of the school.  The report identified some energy loss areas, recommended more energy efficient lighting, and improved insulation.  The report stated that due to the limited use of the school, it was not recommended to replace the current heating system.  Due to a recent leak in the hydrant in front of the church, a frost-free hydrant will be considered for replacement.  May 7th has been set as the date for a “Church Clean Up Day”.  Parishioners will be invited to join together to complete various repair/cleaning jobs on the church, rectory, convent, and school (painting, yard work, caulking, insulating, etc.).  The day will end with a potluck meal.

 

Religious Formation: (Ed Singer)   The Youth Group had 30+ attendees for the recent ski trip.  The group is planning a parish breakfast on February 27th after Mass.  The sixth grade CCD had a successful “Souper Bowl” drive, collecting $101 and 130 pounds of food pantry items.  The next Children’s liturgy will be held on February 20th.  The PRE family bowling party is scheduled for February 27th.  The 7th and 8th grade students will have a retreat on March 20th

 

Liturgy & Worship: (Barb Krugh)  The 55+ Club will have a retreat on March 22nd.

 

Community Service: (Barb Weber and Jill Olashuk)   No report

 

Building Community: (Adam Homier)   The Parish Appreciation dinner had a nice gathering, but was not as well attended as in previous years.

 

Old Business:  No report

 

New Business:  Council will investigate the possibility of handicapped accessible restrooms.  The 2nd collection for March will go toward the St. Michael’s Help fund.  This is a special fund that can be used to help parishioners in need of assistance.  The April 2nd collection is planned to support the Greg Ulaszewski benefit and the May 2nd collection is planned to support DASH (Defiance Area Society of the Handicapped).

 

Pastor’s Remarks:  The Parish Mission is scheduled for March 13th – 16th.  A team is forming to help with the mission.  The team will meet on February 20th at 2pm.

Kevin Hoschak called the meeting to order and Father Bob lead the opening prayer. 

 

The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.

 

Finance:  The financials for the months of November and December were reviewed with the two month income of $43,723.45 and expenses of $36,747.51 for a net gain of $6,975.94.

 

Maintenance: (Jerry Wagner and Ron Clinger)  The contractor for the gutter shield installation project on the church will be contacted to request a start date.  Previous ground tile installation records are being sought for clarification of the type of drainage work that was previously done around the church.  Council discussed the possibility of a “fix up day” to be held in the spring.  Parishioners would be asked to join together as a group to complete maintenance projects (painting, cleaning, repairing, etc.) on the buildings.  The day would end with a potluck meal.  Father also gave an update on the school fuel consumption.  Maintenance that was done on the boiler has seemed to have a very positive impact on reduced fuel usage.

 

Religious Formation: (Ed Singer) No report.

 

Liturgy & Worship: (Barb Krugh) There will be a Children’s Liturgy on January 11th.  The 55+ Club will have a retreat on March 22nd

 

Community Service: (Barb Weber and Jill Olashuk) Several parish families will provide a meal for the PATH Center on February 7th.  The second collection taken in January raised $498 for the Ridge Project.  Thanks to all who donated.  The second collection for February will go toward the RCIA fund.  Council is considering The St. Michael’s Help fund as the recipient of the March second collection.

 

Building Community: (Adam Homier) The Parish Appreciation dinner will be held in the church basement on February 13th.  Details and reservation forms will be available in the bulletin.  Adult parish members are invited to join in an evening of fellowship.  Council members will provide appetizers prior to the catered meal.  Council members are also asked to help set up the basement after Mass on February 13th

 

Old Business:  It was determined that the current statue of St. Michael will not fit on the front left altar.  Council members are searching for an alternative. 

 

New Business:  Father will be on vacation from January 24th through February 3rd.  The parish will provide funds for the Confirmation reception to be held on April 3rd.  A parish Precious Blood Mission will be held on March 13th through the 16th.  Volunteers are requested to form a planning team – see Father Bob if you are interested.  More information about the mission can be found on the website www.pbparishmissions.org

Finance:  The financials for the month of October were reported as income of $15,174.35 and expenses of $13,190.59 for a net gain of $1,983.76. 

 

Maintenance: (Jerry Wagner and Ron Clinger) Council discussed the church gutters and the problem of rain water leaking from them in certain places.  Commercial grade gutter covers were presented to council with a quote of $3,750 to place them over all church gutters and make repairs where gutters were leaking.  Council voted to approve the purchase.  Installation is expected to begin within about three weeks.  The condition of the basement paneling/base boards was reviewed where there is water damage along one wall.  After the gutters have been re-cleaned and covers installed, the basement will be observed in hopes of stopping the water damage.  Repairs will be determined at that time.

 

Religious Formation: (Ed Singer) First Reconciliation will be held on November 17th with 2nd graders.  A Children’s liturgy will be held on November 21st with a bake sale following Mass.  The Youth Group will hold a meeting and Christmas party on December 5th, with stocking stuffing as a service project.  The Youth Group will be selling memorial ornaments in December.  Christmas Pageant practices are beginning

 

Liturgy & Worship: (Barb Krugh) There will be a bilingual (English/Spanish) Mass on December 11th at 5pm at St. Caspar’s in Wauseon.  St. Michael’s will hold Christmas Masses on December 24th at 4pm and 11pm.  Feast of the Holy Family Masses will be held at St. Michael’s on December 26th at 8:30am and 6:30pm

 

Community Service: (Barb Weber and Jill Olashuk) The PATH Center has asked for volunteers from our parish to serve dinners on February 7 and November 21 in 2011.  The Giving Tree will be up after Thanksgiving for those wishing to fulfill Christmas gift requests from area families in need.

 

Building Community: (Adam Homier) No report.

 

Old Business:  Northwest State students are continuing to prepare a report on the Sunday School energy expenses and efficiencies.  A statue of St. Michael is available to be refurbished.  Father Bob is pursuing a quote.

 

New Business:  A snow removal sheet will be posted for the winter months.  Parishioners are asked to volunteer for dates that they will help shovel the sidewalks as necessary.  The bulletin editor will be asked to post the volunteer names in the bulletin as a reminder. Father Bob will contact a service for snow plowing.  The second collection on January 9th will benefit the Ridge Project.  Ron Clinger will put a notice in the bulletin to explain the service that this project offers.  Council discussed and approved the purchase of a new water softener system that services the rectory and church.  The cost is $2,948 and the system will be more efficient on salt usage.  The Culligan store providing the system has volunteered to donate toward next year’s festival.

Finance:  The financials for the month of September were reported as income of $11,836.24 and expenses of $11,675.44 for a net gain of $160.80. 

 

Maintenance: (Jerry Wagner and Ron Clinger) The school boiler was checked and thoroughly cleaned.  The boiler is expected to run much better and more efficiently.  The convent boiler was also checked and appears to be working fine.  The Church gutters were cleaned and some gutter guards installed in one area to trial.  The rectory gutters need cleaned.  The church basement has areas at the foundation that are showing water damage.  A contractor will be contacted to research the problem.

 

Religious Formation: (Ed Singer) The Youth Group had 13 walkers with donations of $322 toward the CROP Walk.   The Youth Group will participate in Defiance College’s “Night without a Home” on October 23rd.  On October 31st a parish breakfast will be offered by the Youth Group.  First Reconciliation will be held on November 17th with 2nd graders.  A Children’s liturgy will be held on November 21st with a bake sale following Mass.

 

Liturgy & Worship: (Barb Krugh) The 55+ Club will meet at St. Mike’s on October 26th with the Rosary at 10:40am and Mass at 11:00am.

 

Community Service: (Barb Weber and Jill Olashuk) Several parishioners served food for the PATH Center on October 18th.  On October 23rd the Youth Group will be helping with fall clean up at Camp Libbey.

 

Building Community: (Adam Homier) A Parish appreciation dinner is planned for February 13th.

 

Old Business:  A Northwest State student came and began evaluating the school.  He will prepare an estimate on the cost of making the building more efficient.

 

New Business:  None.

Religious Formation: (Ed Singer) CCD has started with a report that classes are going well.

 

Liturgy & Worship: (Barb Krugh) The 55+ Club will meet on Septermber 28, 2010.  The Rosary will begin at 10:40am and Mass at 11:00am.  R.C.I.A. will begin on September 23rd at St. John’s.

 

Community Service: (Barb Weber and Jill Olashuk) The 2nd collection for October will go toward Priest retirement fund.  The Youth group will be doing a CROP walk on October 3rd.  The church will contribute $200 for the CROP walk.

 

Building Community: (Adam Homier) Martha Wagner plans to purchase a statue for the side altar in church in memory of Cletus and Michael (Main) Wagner.

 

Old Business:  163 families had pictures taken for the parish directory.

Liturgy & Worship: (Barb Krugh) The 55+ Club will meet on August 31, 2010 at St. Isadore.  The Rosary will begin at 10:40am and Mass at 11am.

July 20, 2010

Finance:  Kent Beilharz reported the financials for the month of June as income of $13,544.42 and expenses of $10,834.08 for a net gain of $2,710.34.  The fiscal year ended on June 30, 2010 with a fiscal year end loss of $15,366.40.

 

Maintenance: (Jerry Wagner and Ron Clinger) It was reported that the school boiler is due for a cleaning and inspection in November.  Quotes are being researched for heat alarms.  The heating fuel tank is also being monitored to ensure that there are no problems with the tank.  The fuel level will be measured several times prior to the start up of the furnace.  There was also discussion regarding the cleaning of the church and house gutters.  A lift is available for rent at $200/day, with volunteers needed for gutter cleaning.  Quotes are also being pursued for a service to clean the gutters for us and potentially install gutter guards.

 

Religious Formation: (Ed Singer) No report.

 

Liturgy & Worship: (Barb Krugh) The 55+ Club will meet on July 27th at St. John’s in Defiance.  A Mass of Thanksgiving is also being offered for Father Mark Walter who was recently ordained as a priest.  The Mass at St. Mary’s in Defiance will be held on Sunday, August 1st at 11:30am with a reception and brunch following.

 

Community Service: (Barb Weber and Jill Olashuk) The 2nd collection for September will go toward Charlie’s Pie (Hospice).

 

Building Community: (Adam Homier) No report.

 

Old Business:  None. 

 

New Business:  There was discussion regarding the purchase of a new air conditioner unit for the church basement, to be mainly used for the festival.  An estimated quote of $2,500 was given.  Council approved the purchase.  A new festival chairperson, or co-chairpersons are requested to train with Jim Hall.  Help was also requested for the mole problem around Father’s house.

 

Pastor’s Remarks:  Father Bob reminded of the upcoming church directory photos on August 25-28th.  An additional day may be added to the schedule to accommodate the members.  Father also reported that we have surpassed our Annual Catholic Appeal goal by approximately $500.

Religious Formation: (Ed Singer) Alternative locations for holding Sunday School classes were discussed, in the event the school is unusable due to boiler problems in the winter.  A motion was made to purchase a remote heat control/alarm for the church and school.  The Youth Group went to Cedar Point on June 10th with a total of 48 – a big success.

 

Liturgy & Worship: (Barb Krugh) The 55+ Club will meet on Tuesday, June 29 at St. Mary’s in Defiance.  A mass will be held at Brookview on June 16.

 

Community Service: (Chris Newton and  Jill Olashuk) Several members of the parish served a meal at the  Path Center in Defiance on June 14.  The 2nd collection for July has been designated for the House of Ruth.

 

Building Community: (Elise Kretz) The church campout will be held on July 23 -25 at Huggy Bear Campground.

 

Old Business:  Vacation Bible School at St. Mike’s was cancelled this year due to low attendance registrations.

The topic of discussion will be vocations to the priest and sisterhood.

Religious Formation: (Ed Singer) 1st communion will be celebrated this Sunday for Courtney Cox, Maggie Rettig, Gabe Watson and Evan Willitzer. Vacation Bible School will begin on June 14th and conclude June 18th. There will be a year end catechist dinner on May 12th. Breakfast will be served after mass on May 2nd. We will honor our bacculaureate's at mass on May 30th.

 

Liturgy and Worship: (Barb Krugh) The 55+ club will meet on Tuesday April 27th, 2010. We will celebrate May Friendship Day May 7th at St. John's United Church Of Christ. More info available in the bulletin. The "Holy Hour for Vocations" will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church on April 27th from 6:30-7:30 PM.

 

Community Service: Chris Newton and Jill Olashuk) There will not be a 2nd collection during the month of May.

 

Building Community: (Elise Kretz) The Holy Thursday Agape celebration was a big success. Currently there is not a meeting set for the "Jesus Alive Today" team. March 16th, 2010

Gina Frank called the meeting to order and Joe Stykemain offered the opening prayer.

 

The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.

 

Finance: Fr. Bob reported for the month of February an income of $11,195.35 and expenses of $ 37,293.50 for a net (loss) of $ 26,098.15. Included in the monthly expenses was the 2nd of two payments for the renovation of the priest house kitchen in the amount of $16,365.00. This brings the total amount spent on the kitchen renovation to $ 34,775.86.

 

Maintenance: (Jim McCann and Ron Clinger) Due to the age, deterioration, maintenance upkeep and cost of heating of our current school, the consideration of replacement has been discussed at our council meeting. This is a topic that requires the input of all of our parishioners. The current school holds many memories for a lot of us yet we must continue to look at what will best fit the needs of our parish for the future. We want to take this opportunity to remind our parishioners that the council meetings are an "open" affair and all are welcome. You need not be a member of council to attend and or express your opinions. In other matters, our elevator has recently "passed" inspection. The cables which operate the elevator are due for replacement this September. This is a standard replacement, every five years. More to follow in the upcoming council minutes.

 

Religious Formation: (Ed Singer) The PRE family bowling party was a big success! The turnout for the parish retreat with Fr. Raymond Fisher went over well. Our parish youth group's retreat at the Cherry Street Mission was well attended and very successful! The "Teens Encounter Christ" event is coming up soon and before you know it, vacation bible school.

 

Liturgy and Worship: (Barb Krugh) On March 21st we will have our children's liturgy with our 4th graders. On Holy Thursday we will celebrate with mass at 8:00 PM and adoration from 9:00 till 11:00 PM. There will be Reconciliation Wednesday March 31st at 4, 6 and 7 PM. On March 23rd at 6:30 PM we will be coating eggs and on the 24th, also at 6:30 PM, we will decorate and package them in the church basement Any and all help is welcomed!

 

Community Service: (Chris Newton and Jill Olashuk) The 2nd collection for the month of April has been designated to the "Dash-A-thon".

 

Building Community: (Elise Kretz) We will celebrate AGAPE in the church basement after Holy Thursday services. Please bring your favorite wine and bread, if you prefer, or simply join in. All are welcome!

 

Pastoral Planning: There will be a "Foundation Day Mass" on April 15th at the Rosary cathedral. There are a limited number of tickets available to those who are interested in attending. Please see Fr. Bob soon.

Maintenance: (Jim McCann and Ron Clinger)  The school furnace was discussed being put on a low temperature alarm system to prevent the freezing of water pipes.

 

Religious Formation: (Ed Singer) On February 28* the P.R.E. will celebrate with a bowling party. The "Souper Bowl Sunday" was a big success. A "Catholic Schools" DVD will be shown after masses on the weekend of February 27th and 28th.

 

Liturgy and Worship: (Barb Krugh) There will be Stations of the Cross on Wednesdays during lent @ 7:00 PM with mass @ 7:30 PM. The 55+ club will meet on Tuesday, March 23rd here at St. Mikes. There will be a Parish Retreat on March 7th with Fr. Raymond Fisher along with a fund raiser dinner for a "well" in South Africa, sponsored by our youth group. The "World Day of Prayer" will be celebrated at St. Mary's Defiance on March 3rd @ l:30pm.

 

Community Service: (Chris Newton and Jill Olashuk) The addition of new songbooks was discussed to add a variety of music for our congregation to sing. The 2nd collection for the month of March has been designated to the family of Tiana Bishop.

 

Building Community: The adult appreciation dinner was once again a big success! Remember to spread the news next year!! On "Holy Thursday", April 1st after church service we will we will celebrate "Agape" with our favorite wines and bread.

The 2nd collection taken up for the disaster relief for Haiti has thus far amounted to $1656.00.

 

Maintenance: (Jim McCann / Ron Clinger) Richland Roofing repaired the leak in the roof of the north entrance to the church and the garage wall area. The boilers have all been inspected and approved by Jerry Wiemken.

 

Religious Formation: (Ed Singer) The Catechist Christmas party was held January 6th which included a teachers meeting where discussed was the organizing of service projects for "corporal works of mercy" to be performed by the catechist. Our "Soup-r-bowl" weekend will once again be held and lead by the 6th grade class to collect nonperishable food items to be donated to the St. Mary food pantry. More details will be available in the bulletin. A total of 42 youths from St. Mike's and surrounding parishes recently enjoyed a trip to "Kalahari" water-park.

 

Liturgy and Worship: (Barb Krugh) Lent begins on Wednesday February 17th. There will be mass and stations of the cross on Wednesdays @ St. Michael's at 7:00pm and on alternating Thursdays at both St. Isadores at 7:00pm. There will be an 8:00pm mass on Holy Thursday April 1st @ St. Michael's with adoration of the Blessed Sacrament from 9 till 11 PM. On April 2nd, Good Friday, @ 1:00PM there will be a liturgy of the word along with veneration of the cross and a communion service at St. Michaels. On Holy Saturday we will celebrate the Service of Light with mass at 8:00PM. On Sunday there will be mass @ 8:30AM at St. Michaels. Mass at St. Isadore Marysdale will be celebrated with Fr. Bob Holden at 7:00AM and also at 10:00AM with Fr, Bob Kill.

 

Community Service: (Chris Newton and Jill Olashuk) The 2nd collection for the month of February has been designated to once again go to the family of Tiana Bishop. Tiana has undergone, at last count, 44 consecutive weeks of chemotherapy. This collection will take place on the weekend of February 13th and 14th. St Michael's parish is designated to cook and serve dinner at the PATH center approximately three times per year. This is a very rewarding experience for families to serve their community. Building Community: (Elise Kretz) The "Spirit of Jesus Alive" committee is working at contacting disconnected parishioners and inviting them back to church by inviting them to the parish appreciation dinner.

November 17th, 2009

 

Gina Frank called the meeting to order and offered the opening prayer.

 

Present were: Fr. Bob, Kent Beilharz, Barb Krugh, Dan Weber, Elise Kretz, Ed Singer, Ron Clinger, Chris Newton, Joe Stykemain, Gina Frank and Jim McCann.

 

The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.

 

Finance: Kent reported for the month of October an income of $11674.80 and expenses of $16448.98 with a net loss of $4774.18. Included in the loss was the removal of the hump in the parking lot at a cost of $2698.00.

 

Maintenance: (Jim McCann / Ron Clinger) The renovation of the priest house kitchen will begin soon. Jerry Wiemken will perform the annual fall inspection of the boilers. A leak in the roof of the west entrance area of the church and the priest house garage wall will be addressed soon. The handicap availability and floor condition in the church restrooms is being studied further. "Groll Snow Removal" will once again perform the removal of snow in the parking lot areas. The usual sign-up sheet will once again be posted in the back of the church for parishioners to volunteer for the shoveling and salting of the church grounds sidewalks.

 

Religious Formation: (Ed Singer) The youth group will be filling stockings for the Path Center Children's Christmas Party and decorate ornaments for the memorial tree. Our annual Christmas pageant will be once again at 3:30 on Christmas Eve.

 

Liturgy and Worship: (Barb Krugh) The first Sunday of the Advent season will be November 29th. The 55+ club will meet December 15, 2009 at St. Michael's Ridge. Mass will be at 11:00 am with a catered dinner at noon.

 

Community Service: (Chris Newton) There will not be a second collection during the month of December due to a collection for the retired religious. Once again St Mike's will have their giving tree. If anyone knows of someone or family in our community that is in need, please submit their name and number in a sealed envelope into the collection basket, attn: Fr. Bob.

 

Building Community: (Elise Kretz) the "Spirit of Jesus Alive Today" committee has postponed meetings until after the holidays. Our annual “Adult Appreciation Dinner" has been scheduled for Sunday the 14th of February. The evening will begin at 5:00 PM with hors d'oeuvres and a catered dinner at 6:00 PM.

Finance: Kent Beilharz reported for the month of September an income of $12431.60 and expenses of $10038.05 for a net income of $2393.55.

 

Maintenance: (Jim McCann Ron / Ron Clinger) The hump in the parking lot has been repaired and resurfaced. The reason for the hump was a drainage issue. Things are progressing with the preparation of the renovation of the priest house kitchen and the project will begin in the near future. The diocese will be contacted about handicap codes for the parish buildings. The floor in the restroom area is under consideration for repair or replacement.

 

Religious formation: (Ed Singer) The High school students are working on the repair and or replacement and washing of the school storm windows. The confirmation class will be washing the tombstones in the cemetery.

 

Liturgy and Worship: (Barb Krugh) The 55+ club will be meeting on Tuesday, October 27, 2009 at St. Michael's Ridge. Mass will be at 11:00 AM which will include the anointing of the sick. A catered dinner will follow at 12:00 noon. Our Children's Liturgy will be October 18th with the 3rd grade class.

 

Community Service: (Chris Newton) There will not be a second collection during the month of November.

 

Building community: (Elise Kretz) The Toledo Diocese will be celebrating its 100th anniversary. The Spirit of Jesus Alive Today is a program designed to bring people together to celebrate their faith and share their God given talents in our parish and our homes. Fr. Bob, Tammi Rettig, Julie Burkholder, Karen Newton and Elise Kretz will be holding a meeting on October 18th, 2009 in the Educational room in the church basement to discuss a variety of topics such as a grieving support group, church greeters, ushers and the bringing of displaced parishioners back to church. St. Michael's Parish Council Minutes

 

September 16th, 2009

         

Gina Frank called the meeting to order and Jim McCann offered the opening prayer.

         

Present were: Fr. Bob, Kent Beilharz, Gina Frank, Dan Weber, Joe Stykmain, Ed Singer, Ron Clinger, Jim McCann and Chris Newton.    


The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.

         

Finance: Kent reported for the month of July an income of $13267.35 and expenses of $13185.14 for a net gain of $82.21. He also reported for the month of August an income of $36633.14 and expenses of $25193.39 for a net gain of $11439.75. Overall the parish is doing fine financially.

         

Maintenance: (Jim McCann and Ron Clinger) The hump in the parking lot will be removed in the next two weeks. Strabel Paving will fill and seal the holes in the parking lot that were left from the festival tent stakes. The finance committee along with parish council has approved the renovation of the kitchen in the priest house. Kahle Builders for an approximate estimate of $28000.00 will perform the work. Details of the project are being worked out.

         

Religious Formation: (Ed Singer) CCD classes will begin next week. The teachers meeting went well and it is noted that Mary Kay did a fine job! The commissioning of the teachers will be conducted during mass on September 20th followed with a CCD family brunch at 11:00.

 

Liturgy and Worship: (Barb Krugh) The 55+ Club will meet on Tuesday, September 22nd at St Mike's with Mass at 11:00 a.m. and a catered dinner to follow. There will be a Diocesan Centenary Service on October 7th at 12:00 noon at the cathedral.

         

Community Service: (Chris Newton) The second collection for the month of October has been designated to the Hospital Auxiliary Fall Fair. Due to the collection taking place after the fair, council has decided to make a monetary donation of $1000.00 prior to the collection. Any funds collected in excess of the $1000.00 amount will then be forwarded to the Auxiliary. The second collection for Tiana Bishop has thus far netted $1425.00.

 

Building Community: (Elise Kretz) The St. Mike's campout will not be pursued due to time constraints.

July 21st, 2009

 

Jeff Slattmann called the meeting to order and Rhonda Fabiano offered the opening prayer.

 

Present were: Fr. Bob, Kent Beilharz, Jeff Slatmann, Gina Frank, Dan Weber, Rhonda Fabiano, Jody Young, Chris Newton, Elise Kretz, Joe Stykemain, Barb Krugh, Ed Singer, and Jill Olashuk.

 

The minutes from the previous meeting were read and approved.

 

Finance: Kent reported a fiscal yearly and a monthly report. The monthly report showed an income of $17843.63 and an expense of $12469.05 with a net (gain) of $5374.58. Our fiscal year result showed a (loss) of $12454.71.

 

Maintenance (Jim McCann and Ron Clinger) The hump in the parking lot will not be repaired until after the festival. The left over wood from the trees that were removed has been removed. The gutters on all of the buildings will need to be cleaned out soon.

 

Religious formation: (Ed Singer) There is not much going on at this time of year. The future of our school will be discussed in more detail in future council meetings.

 

Community Service: (Chris Newton and Jill Olashuk) There will not be a second collection during the month of August due to our parish festival. The second collection for the month of September has been designated to be for the family of Tiana Bishop. Tiana is a 4th grader at Tinora and has cancer.

 

Building community: (Elise Kretz) The Whitewater rafting trip went very well! Fun was had by all. Plans are being considered for a campout during the month of September, more to follow.

 

Pastoral Planning: No report at this time.

 

Old Business: Council will look more into the by-laws in future meetings.

Religious Formation: (Julie Burkholder) CCD classes are done for the year. Vacation Bible School will be held June 8-12, (9am till noon). Donations of Bible School class items are needed, please see the Bulletin for a listing. The dinner for the Catechist was held on May 13th and went well.

 

Liturgy and Worship: (Jody Young) This Sunday we celebrate the feast of The Ascension of the Lord. Next weekend we will celebrate Pentecost, which will bring the Easter season to a close. Father's will be honored during mass on June 21st.

 

Community Service: (Chris Newton) The 2nd collection for May for the D.A.S.H. / Food Pantry has netted $684.00, wonderful!! The 2nd collection for the month of June has been designated for "Relay for Life". Council has decided to make a $ 150.00 donation to Casey McDonald.  (Buckeye Boys State)

 

Building Community: (Elise Kretz and Rhonda Fabiano) The 55+ club will meet on Tuesday, May 26th at St. Mike's with mass at 11 am and a catered dinner at 12 noon followed by cards and bingo. During the month of June our youth will be enjoying White Water Rafting. They will also be attending Cedar Point Day on June 11th.

Maintenance: (Jim McCann and Drew Westrick) Tree removal and trimming will begin when the ground dries out more. The parish is continuing consideration of a new P. A. system.

 

Religious Formation: (Julie Burkholder) The Jr. and Sr. High retreat went very well! The 1st Communion class retreat is scheduled for April 22nd. 1st Communion will be celebrated during 8:30 am mass on April 26th. Confirmation will be celebrated on Sunday May 3rd at 2:00 pm.

 

Liturgy and Worship: (Jody Young) We will remain in the Easter1 season until Pentecost Sunday, May 31st. Mother's Day will be celebrated on May 10th and Father's day will soon follow on June 21st.

 

Community Service: (Chris Newton) Council has designated the 2nd collection for the month of May to be divided between D.A.S.H. and The Food Pantry. Parishioners are encouraged to write letters of support to the candidates for Priesthood. Envelopes for each candidate are located in the back of the church.

 

Building Community: (Elise Kretz and Rhonda Fabiano) The 55+ club will meet on Tuesday, April 28th at St Michael's Ridge. Mass will be at 11am with a catered dinner at 12 noon followed with cards/bingo at 1pm. Church Women United will host "May Friendship Day" at St. Mike's on Friday, May 1st.

A new P.A. system is being considered in the future due to the condition of the current one. A new statue of St. Michael is also being considered for our side alter. All input is welcomed.

 

Religious Formation: (Julie Burkholder) The "First Communion Inscription" was held during mass on the 15 . Our youth group went on their ski trip recently and all had a great time! The P.R.E. bowling party is scheduled for Sunday the 22nd at the Holiday Lanes from 1-3. A letter was received from the diocese concerning the "Diocesan Lay Ministry Formation Program". Basically, this is a three-year program that covers Scripture, Theology and Leadership and Law. The diocese would like to have three parishioners from our parish for consideration. All adult men of the parish are welcomed.

Maintenance: (Jim McCann and Drew Westrick) All of the

boilers have passed inspection and it has been recommended

by Jerry Wiemken that the temperature in the church be kept

at a constant 60 degrees for maximum efficiency. The water

in the church restrooms froze recently but with no damage.

The installation of space heaters is being considered for

these areas. It has been decided to continue the contract

with Lee Groll for snow removal. There will be no tree

removal at this time.

 

Religious Formation: (Julie Burkholder) No report at this

time.

 

Liturgy and Worship: (Jody Young) February 3rd is the feast

of St. Blaise and the "Blessing of Throats" will be done on

Sat/Sun,, the 7th & 8th of February. Lent begins on "Ash

Wednesday", February 25th.

 

Community Service: (Chris Newton) The 2nd collection for

February has been designated for "The Little Sisters of the

Poor" of Oregon, Ohio.

 

Building Community: (Elise Kretz and Rhonda Fabiano) Our

annual parish appreciation dinner is scheduled for Sunday,

February 8th with fellowship @ 5 p.m. and dinner @ 6p.m,

"Classic Catering" will cater dinner. We will be setting up

the basement area on Saturday the 7th @ 1p.m. All are

invited to help! The next meeting for C.R.H.P. is scheduled

for Sunday, February 1st @ 2p.m. in the church basement.

The retreat weekend is scheduled for March 14th and 15th.

All adult men of the parish are invited to attend.

 

Pastoral Planning: No report at this time.

 

Old Business: No report at this time.

 

New Business: All are encouraged to volunteer for snow

shoveling of the sidewalks during this winter season. Many

hands make little work!

St. Michael’s Parish Council Minutes

November 18th, 2008

 

Jeff Slattman called the meeting to order and Dan Weber offered the opening prayer.

Present were: Fr. Dave, Jeff Slattman, Gina Frank, Dan Weber, Rhonda Fabiano, Jim McCann and Chris Newton.

 

The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.

 

Finance: Fr. Dave reported an income of $83,411.36 and expenses of $95,119.69 with a net loss of $11,708.38. Among the misc. expenses were $1000 for the  sanctuary lamp, $5,000.00 payment towards the repainting of the stations, $2,700.00 for landscaping, $4,000.00 for the repair of the elevator (this is a corrected amount from October's council minutes), and a high fuel oil bill for the school in the amount of $3,000.00.

 

Maintenance: (Jim McCann and Drew Westrick) All of the "boilers" have or are in the process of being inspected. Doug McBride and Bill Kruger are preparing to fill the tent holes in the parking lot. The "hump” will be addressed at a later date. We are still looking into whom we will contract for snow removal this winter season. Our sign-up sheet will soon be made available in the back of the church for the clearing of the steps and sidewalks. There are two trees on the edge of the cemetery that will need to be removed soon.

 

Religious Formation: (Julie Burkholder) Our Christmas pageant is once again scheduled for Christmas Eve @ 3:30 PM with mass to follow @ 4:00 PM. We are all invited to help with the decorating of our church for the celebration of "Christmas" December 21st, following the 8:30 AM mass! The confirmation teams are going well and the religious education is doing fine.

 

Liturgy and Worship: (Jody Young) This Sunday is the last Sunday of ordinary time for our liturgical year as we celebrate "Christ The King". The feast of the Immaculate Conception" is a holy day of obligation and will be celebrated on Sunday December 7th /4:30 PM @ St. Isidore /The Bend, Monday December 8th /9:00 AM and 5:30 PM @ St Isidore / Marysdale, and Monday December 8th 7:00 PM @ St. Michael's Ridge.

Christmas Day mass will be celebrated: 9:00 AM @ St Isidore / Marysdale, 4:00 PM@ St Michael's, 4:30 PM @ St. Isidore / Marysdale (Fr. Bob Holden), 9:00 PM @ St. Isidore / The Bend and 11:00 PM @ St. Michael's Ridge.

The 55+ club will meet Tuesday December 16th, 2008 @ St. Michael's Ridge / 10:45 AM. There are no meetings planned for the months of Jan. / Feb. 2009.

 

Community Service; (Chris Newton) There will not be a 2nd collection during the month of December due to the Catholic Campaign For Human Development.

 

Building Community: (Elise Kretz and Rhonda Fabiano); The “Christ Renews His Parish” team's next meeting will be January, 4th, 2009 in the church basement. The annual parish appreciation dinner is scheduled for February 8th, 2009 . More information to follow.

Old Business: The reception for Ann Ryan went very well. Ann, we thank you very dearly! The "Evangelical Outreach” is still in progress; The diocese will be celebrating their centennial in 2010. The diocese will be preparing a "history of the diocese" book and each parish will have one page dedicated to the history of their individual parish. The projected cost of the copy is $30.00. More to follow.

St. Michael's Parish Council Minutes October 21st, 2008

 

Jeff Slattman called the meeting to order and Gina Frank offered the opening prayer.

 

Present were: Fr. Dave, Jeff Slattman, Gina Frank, Dan Weber, Julie Burkholder, Rhonda Fabiano, Jim McCann, Chris Newton and Elise Kretz.

 

The minutes of the previous meeting were read, amended and approved.

 

Finance: Fr. Dave reported an income of $11,126.83 and expenses of $14,945.48 with a net loss of $ 3,818.65. Among the misc. expenses were $3,000.00 for repair to the elevator and $ 932.00 for a new computer.

 

Maintenance: (Jim McCann and Drew Westrick) The elevator has been repaired and passed official inspection. Items being considered for repair are the filling of the tent holes in the parking lot and the removal of the "hump". An estimate of $ 1,500.00 to fill the holes and $3,649.00 to remove the "hump" for a total of $5,149.00 is being considered from Strabel Paving. Tree trimming is still under study and the repainting of the "Stations" are progressing.

 

Religious Formation: (Julie Burkholder) The confirmation class will meet with their sponsors during the month of November. The youth group enjoyed their trip to the "Haunted Cora Maze" on October 19th.

 

Liturgy and Worship: ( Jody Young) The 55+ club will meet on Tuesday, October 28, 2008 @ St Michael's Ridge. The feast of all saints is not a holy day of obligation this year due to it falling on a Saturday. Mass will be Friday, October 31st @ 6:30 p.m.

 

Community Service: (Chris Newton) There will not be a 2nd  collection during the month of November due to the "Propagation of the Faith". We received Thank-You letters recently from the Furniture Bank, Ho spice-The Caring Way, The Alzheimer's Society, The Food Pantry and Community Pregnancy Center of Northwest Ohio for recent donations made on behalf of St. Mike's.. The 2nd collection for October for the St. Vincent De Paul Society thus far has totaled $772.00. John-Manville matched donations for the Memory walk with contributions still pending.

 

Building Community: ( Elise Kretz and Rhonda Fabiano) The "Church Women United" will meet for " World community Day" on Friday November 7, 2008 at 1:30 p.m. @ St. Mary's Catholic Church / Defiance. The men's "Christ Renews His Parish" team will meet at 6 p.m. in the church basement on November 16th.

 

Pastoral Planning: none

 

Old Business: Fr. Dave and Tammy Rettig attended the Evangelical Reach Out informational program @ St Mary Catholic Church on October 11th. This is a work in progress and there will be more to follow at a later date.

 

New Business: We will have to rethink how to decorate around the alter area during ' the Christmas season due to the recent renovations to the Church as far as the Nativity scene, etc., are concerned.

 

Pastor's Remarks: Things are going well overall, confirmation team is doing fine and the "Christ Renews His Parish" retreat weekend is scheduled for March 15th , 2009.
