St. Michael Parish Religious Formation Program Lent 2010, began with Ash Wednesday on February 17. Easter will be celebrated on Sunday, April 4. Stations of the Cross, followed by Mass are being offered on Wednesday nights at 7:00, during Lent.
Thanks to all who donated canned soup or money on “SUPER BOWL SUNDAY” Our 6th Grade Class with the help of their Catechist, Dorothy Singer organized this effort to help feed the hungry of our area.
February 28 is the date for our annual PRE Family Bowling Party, from 1-3pm at the Holiday Lanes in Defiance. It is always such great time to bowl, visit with, and enjoy snacks together with so many fun and enthusiastic families form our Religious Education Program.
PARISH RETREAT on MARCH 7: Please plan on attending this inspirational evening of reflection at St. Michael’s. Fr. Raymond Fisher will be here to offer his insights and stories. The Confirmation class will be serving a soup and sandwich supper from 5-6 PM. Father Ray's talk will start at 6 PM and last about 1 hour. All are welcome to attend.
A Lenten Retreat is scheduled on March 14, from 1:00-8:00, for all Junior High and Senior High School students. Beginning activities and reflection, we will look within ourselves to how God is calling us to serve His people. Part of this retreat will be volunteering service at Cherry Street Mission in Toledo.

PRE EASTER EGG FUNDRAISER: The PRE Team is finalizing plans for their largest fundraising project of the year. With the help of many caring and creative parents of children in the Religious Education program, they will be making and decorating CANDY EASTER EGGS. On March 23, we will be coating the candy eggs with chocolate, and on March 24, we will decorate and package the eggs. These confectionary delights will be offered for sale after Mass on March 27 &28, the weekend before Easter. It’s a lot of fun and the profits help support our Religious Education program and activities.

PRE Easter Egg Fundraiser The PRE team (Parents of Religious Education) is busy making Plans for their annual Candy Easter egg fundraiser. We are asking that each family who have children in the Religious Education Program at St. Michael’s make one batch of candy eggs (or a $20. donation in lieu of eggs) Recipe books and molds can be found in the main entrance of church. This is the biggest fundraising project of the year for the Religious Education Program and we need and appreciate everyone’s assistance. Candy eggs need to be in the church basement by 6:30pm on Tuesday, March 23. Everyone is welcome to come and help coat the eggs with chocolate on March 23, starting at 6:30pm. We will meet again to decorate and package the eggs on Wednesday, March 24. The decorated eggs will then be sold after Mass, the following weekend, March 27 & 28. THANK YOU!

AGAPE ON HOLY THURSDAY We will once again be hosting our fellowship of sharing grape juice, wine, and bread following our Holy Thursday service at 8:00 pm on April 1, 2010 You are invited to bring and share a bottle of your favorite wine and loaf of bread. The parish will furnish the grape juice, cups, napkins and grapes. This is a splendid way to celebrate the Lord giving us his Body and Blood. Come join us in the church basement.

Catechists
Youth Group Coordinators — Barb Weber, Tim & Tammie Rettig. All incoming 7th graders through seniors are invited to be a part of our youth group. Group members will kick off the year with a cook out and outdoor activities at Weber's on Sunday, August 30.
This year, Catechetical Sunday, September 20, 2009, will focus on the theme, "Catechesis and the Proclamation of the Word." Those who have been designated by the community to serve as catechists will be called forth to be commissioned for their ministry. Catechetical Sunday is a wonderful opportunity to reflect upon the role that each person plays, by virtue of Baptism, in handing on the faith and being a witness to the Gospel. Catechetical Sunday is an opportunity for all to rededicate themselves to this mission as a community of faith.
CHILDREN'S LITURGIES will be on October 18, November 15, January 24, February 21 and March 21. On these Sundays, the young people of our parish serve as lectors, ushers, and gift-bearers. Children in grades 1 through 6 sit in the front pews near the organ and lead the singing. In order to prepare for this, all students in grades 1 through 6 are asked to gather in the front of Church immediately after Mass each Sunday for a brief singing practice.
